[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Northwest is home to a wide variety of paintbrush. Castilleja miniata. Family Name: Figwort. They can range in color from white, orange, red, yellow and even purple. They range in size from 0.5" to 3 feet. This one was found on Hamilton Mountain at about 2000 ft. elevation.

The Paintbrush evoked the Native American legend of a young brave who tried to paint the sunset with his warpaints. Frustrated that he could not match the brilliance of nature, he ask for guidance from the Great Spirit. The Great Spirit gave him paintbrushes laden with the colors he so desired. With these, he painted his masterpiece and left the spent brushes in fields across the landscape. These brushes sprouted the flowers we now so wonderfully love!

Wow this one turned out very nice! Mine were too blurry, I'm glad you got a good photo of this lovely wildflower. Very nice clear focus.

Very nice composition!
Contrast colors,DOF and BG are wonderful.

Nice capture. I find these very hard to photograph. I find it hard to get details in the reds for some reason. Nicely seen.

Joe
