[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Anyone up for a guessing game? I'm sure everyone here will know exactly what this is a photo of. Personally it was the first time I had ever seen such a sight.

I'll post additional photos after a few guesses!

The catagory gives it away somewhat, it's from a bird......

Winner gets a cyberhug....about all I can afford now.

Hi Lori
is it a Long billed Curlew...or Avocet..or Killdeer..or perhaps a Sandpiper. I say some sort of shorebird.

Interesting capture of these multi coloured eggs. I wonder how long before they hatch?

Lori,
I can tell by your photo that it is a bird that lays its eggs in a ground nest. You can't really tell how big the eggs are, but I'm guessing not as big as a turky egg. I'm going to say either a woodcock, quail or a kildeer. With only four eggs in the nest my final answer is a kildeer.
By the way your photo is very sharp and detailed with nice natural colours. I only wish the bird would have left a feather behind!!

Hi Lori,
these look very familiar to me and my guess or not is they are pheasant eggs.They sure do look that way as I have seen pheasant eggs many times when I was younger but the last time would of been back in '82 or 3,I almost walked on the nest but luckily I didn't.I'm about 90% sure of what they are.I like the details in this shot and the texture of the eggs is eye appealing as is the colour and the only thing that could be somewhat better is a darker contrast for the shot but that is a subjective thing after all.Thanks for sharing these future birds and as they look now,they look very nice.I have a workshop for a different view of this photo and I hope you like it.Well Janice got the ID correct which goes to show that my memory is not as good as it could be but then again this is what TN is all about learning neat facts and that is priceless. I have run out of gas...but I have also run out of guessing steam, but I have a good idea:-) Very cleaver and a good notion to make this one a guessing game. It is sure clear enough for someone who has seen these or knows of the to tell....You're too cool...but then you're a WA'tonian!

I think a Vanellus Vanellus in atin.
I don't know the English or american name.
In the Netherlands i found a lot of thes eggs.
About the photo sharp and beutiful colors.
You don't disturb the nest?
