I found this Indian Paintbrush at the base of Table Mountain in the Columbia River Gorge. My youngest daughter and I hiked the 4 miles to this gorgeous view of the mountain and just a bit farther up the trail Greenleaf Falls. I wanted to capture a view of the mountain behind this paintbrush, so kept the background blurry on purpose.
For more about the paintbrush:
Wildflowers of the Northwest
"The Paintbrush evoked the Native American legend of a young brave who tried to paint the sunset with his warpaints. Frustrated that he could not match the brilliance of nature, he ask for guidance from the Great Spirit. The Great Spirit gave him paintbrushes laden with the colors he so desired. With these, he painted his masterpiece and left the spent brushes in fields across the landscape. These brushes sprouted the flowers we now so wonderfully love!" |

Hi Lori,
There are two points of interest in your picture frame. The flower and the mountain. The mountain being out of focus is disturbing the balance. In this situation, I would have either cropped off the mountain altogether, or tried to keep it in sharp focus. But well, that is my outlook.

Hello Lori, good to see you again.
And what a pretty picture you have here. The Indian Paintbrush is a new one for me and I do like the story you have told us about this beauty.
And the whole composition, with the flower in the front and the wonderful BG where we can see the Table Mountain through the trees - that looks awesome. What a beautiful day it looked too,
Thank you, thank you
Janice
