....and finally the two Mallards after drying off from 'play time', just relaxing and doing what ducks do...one obviously perched on a log simply watching unafraid and the female just sitting in a still float position beyond. They are not in two types of water grasses but in the area of the bank of Fish Lake where the dryer grasses are in deeper water and the more shallow stems are in the shallow part about 6 inches (US) deep.

We do have our share of Mallards here. My father would have been very happy with his notepad and camera. His notepad was frequently used to draw sketches as well as take notes. I still have it somewhere here but it's value is only intrinsic which means it is of historical family value but doest contain any secrets of the aviary world. While dad took notes and such, my mother was one like me. She enjoyed the simple act of observing which gave her great pleasure and as with me, at times brought words of famous poetics to mind. Or perhaps in my case, I can relate images to music. some say it is a talent but anyone who watches and listens can hear the music of nature in most all things.

Hi Bob, good composition, the colours are sharp and have good definition, the focus is excellent.

I like the way you have handled the settings to get this picture. To get a great shot, you have to take risks.. excellent work!!

Hi Bob,

These Mallards stand out so well from the busy setting. They look so at peace and at home. Colors and details are excellent and I love the natural habitat of Fish Lake.

She's just had a bath and he's waiting for the next move! Looks like this pair of Mallards are nesting, or about to, where these reeds are. A great habitat shot, Bob! Technically first class!
TFS this fine image,
Ivan

Hello Bob,
Wonderful scene well seen and captured. The colors are excellent and focus is spot on. There is something with ducks and logs they all seem to love standing on logs. Soon we will see mostly drakes as the girl will be nesting. Thanks Bob.
Rick

Hello Bob,
Nicely captured of the two Mallards in their natural environment!
very good pov with sharpness, warm colour and details
many thanks for the sharing
cheers

The best thing in your shots, Bob,is that nothing is maskeed, it's crystal clear, and on bold display if it's there, if not, it just ain't there!
This is yet another lovely shot of yours which reiterates that positioning!
Very well done!
Goldy

Hi Bob,

A good capture of the two mallards, the point of view is showing the details and colors of the ducks. There is a good contrast between the colors. The subject is well frame. have a nice day.
