Bachelor's Button (Centaurea cyanus)

Beyond it's true beauty there are a few secrets, none of which I have tried but of which I know. Nothing in nature has been as unusual to me as eating flowers. I have tried a very few, I think Nastursuim was one. But as to the Bachelor's Button it is written and I quote:"The petals of this flower are the edible part. Nothing dresses up a luncheon salad like the blue, white or pink petals of the Bachelor Button. Also called corn-flower (mainly because they naturalized in corn fields), the bright blue Bachelor Button petals make a green and red salad, pop-out as a first course. Sprinkle them onto a salad, after the dressing, and right before serving."
Wow! Well if you're really into a salad that looks pretty I guess. Not sure what devas one might consumer however....or perhaps some Sprightly thing which causes mischievous behaviour I hear. Truthfully I know the later in an esoteric way which I shall delve into here on TN. Anyway this photo was taken not but 15 minutes ago, just for you and just for today!

I am not to sure about having blue leaves in my salad!!..I am a man that enjoys a salad when it is green!!
That said this picture is exemplary on all counts..Fine details set amongst a whole range of colours...Brilliant.

Hi Bob,

I love the flower but not the idea of tossing it with a salad. What a beautiful blue that is. Wonderful details of the Cornflower. The pov is marvelous.

Hi Bob

A beautiful shot of this lovely flower - excellent detailand colour. I have eaten these - and pansy flowers - plus quite a few others - at some of our more pretentious restaurants.

Parfait. Merci!

Francine

Hi Bob,
in all of your images, the subject is so well defined... it is placed perfectly in the frame so that the eye is drawn straight towards it, it's always sharp and crisp and almost pops out of the picture, the colours are so bold and bright and when it's B+W the image is very contrasty and stark... basically what I'm saying is that when you take a shot of something, you capture it in the best possible way.
This, once again, is superb, perfect even :-) Nothing else needs to be said.

Very well done Bob.

Hi Bob,

The close-up view of the flower is allowing us to see the details and colors of it. The flower is clear and precise. The leaves are framing well the flower. The quality of the light is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.
