Hello Bob,
What a wonderful autumnal view of your wilderness in beautiful colours! It looks very peaceful!
Aren't we lucky to be blessed with memories when we get old - without them life would be very strange! It's always with a mixture of happiness and sadness that we look at our lives in restrospect. Your accident was tragic and was obviously a turning point in your life. I admire you for the energy you still have moving about with your camera always ready!
TFS and kind regards, Ulla

It's a lovely scene Bob, i think anyone would have stopped here to capture it too. I know i would. The trees look almost Autumnal in colour for July.
I don't think the wilderness has slipped away from you. Maybe so in a physical sense, but it will always exist deep inside you, which is more than most can claim.

Thank goodness for the pictures! Computers and digital cameras make them even better... so much better than 4x6" film snapshots. One can almost pretend to be back there again. I can play my slideshows on my 36" HD TV and it really is wonderful. We look at one of our past slideshows almost every day...the next best thing to being there.
I like the composition of your nice photo. It really draws one in. I'm a real sucker for reflections. I love them.

A fine scene with autumnal colours even though it was taken in high summer. An old very fine image taken with a sensor of just 1.5 megapix. The symbolism can be imagined: a fine autumnal scene shot at the height of summer. A tragic accident when you were still in your prime that has given your life an autumnal tint: but that has its beauty too Bob!
Thanks for sharing this,
Ivan

Hi Bob,
I found it interesting that you were using one of your first digital cameras five years ago..That's my story :)
And Mary Oliver sure puts a twist on things, very fitting prose to go along with your fine post.
Well done,

Hi Bob
Splendid capture here with such a simple and small camera! Just goes to show that you don't need something ultra expensive to capture something beautiful :)
Lovely colors everywhere and the composition is also awesome, with the river leading the way into the BG. The reflections are nice, too.
Bravo and TFS

"Emotions recollected in tranquillity" -- I think Wordsworth said something to that effect vis-a-vis his relationship with nature, Bob.
I love this beautiful image you took five years ago. Besides being a sharp and colors-rich image, it conveys much more than just the beauty of nature.
Thanks for sharing this lovely picture and warm regards.

A fine landscape here, Bob. I like the rich, yet muted color, the symmetry in the water, the background slope for added dimension. You take advantage of the lighting at hand skilfully. That rocky finger reaching out into the water is eye-catching, too.
Warm regards,
Jim

Hi Bob,
The reflections in the water are assets to the composition. The point of view takes is toward the curve of the river and to the trees in the background. The cloudy sky is filtering the light giving a good contrast between the colors. Have a nice day.
