We decided to go for a small hike at Many Glacier. We took the trail around Swiftcurrent Lake and Lake Josephine, both glacier lakes formed by the Grinnell Glacier. Here you see the beginnen of Lake Josephine.

You might think, Hey, he shifted from the Going To The Sun Road to Many Glacier quickly, I only saw one landscape and a gritter and that's it? Yes, the road is a beautiful road with lots of beautiful vistas, but there are just too many cars and I got frustrated by the harsh sunlight. Even on this day I only got back with a few photos that are OK.

Some information on the area:
Many Glacier is surrounded by the high peaks of the Lewis Range, and numerous hiking trails can be accessed from the area. The region is noted for numerous lakes, waterfalls and dense coniferous forests interspersed with alpine meadows. Major sites in the immediate vicinity that can be accessed by trails include Lake Josephine, Grinnell Lake, Grinnell Glacier, Cracker Lake, Granite Park Chalet, Iceberg Cirque and the Ptarmigan Tunnel, which is a hiking tunnel carved through the mountainside during the 1930's. Tour boats allow visitors an opportunity to venture onto Swiftcurrent Lake. Other activities in the region include ranger guided nature hikes, horseback riding, fishing and camping.

Hello Niek,
beauty as far the eye can reach, and in this composition the depth is incredible. Excellent POV and the scenery is amazing. Very well done.

Hoi Niek,
Prachtig landschap om te fotograferen. Goede compositie.

Nicely done, Niek. Not a hit-you-over-the-head landscape, but nice and well recorded. Kind of a calm feeling in subject and photography.

P.S. I'm headed there in 2 days. I can hardly wait.

I love all the trails out of Many Glacier. The first time I took this trail we were drenched with rain. Then the next time we had to take a detour due to grizzley bears in the area. The last time we went all the way to Grinnell Lake. Each of the three lakes is beautiful with that glacial polish blue.

I like the curve of the river leading to the lake. I keep feeling I want to take a step or two to the left but I am not sure why???

Ooooh, Niek. I really like this one. : )
I like all the intersecting arcs in this scene.
The color of the water in different spots is amazing and beautiful.
You managed to capture the feeling of the "big sky" and the intimacy of the lake in the FG. Excellent clarity and light throughout.
TFS. : )

Hello Niek,
I like the feeling of a low point of view here, leaving me on level with the water in the lake...
Good lines in the composition, scenery well framed with great natural colours!
Greetings,
Pablo -

prachtig meer Niek,
het lijkt me een geweldig land, net als Canada mij aantrekt als fotograaf en natuurliefhebber. Mooie compositie, goede positie ingenomen, zeer goed werk.

Hi Niek,
This is a great shot of this beautiful place. This is a very good composition with this lake that looks like a river from this POV. Mountains, water sky, trees and grass are razor sharp. Very goo POV, DOF and exposure. Congratulations and TFS,
Claudine

Hi Niek,
What makes this shot is the flawless composition. The river running through the photo keeps your focus to the middle. You roam around the shot to see the other detail, but the river pulls you back. Detail, colors, and great sense of DOF are awesome.

Niek

another nice view, like you said, not your normal but it helps to show us somwhere I am unlikely to ever go to and that in itself is enough.

I love the colour of the lake. I just feel like you should have stood on something to gain a little more height!
