[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is another photo taken from almost the same location as my previous Two Medicine Lake photo, but this time a different view. As you can see, it wasn't one of those clear blue sky days. If you have read one of the threads started about the other photo you know that later that day, we got golfball size hail.

The mountain you see in this photo is called Sinopah Mountain.

Tech Talk: Shot in RAW, adjusted white balance and converted to JPEG. Adjustment on levels, curves and saturation. Altered the sky, framed, resize, USM and added text.

Hi Niek,
All days are not sunny days!
However this is a part of reality too, and the lighting isn't bad at all...
Well composed image, with good balance between elements... Water surface is beautiful!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Niek
A lovely capture of this beautiful landscape. Considering the backlight situation, you've managed very well to control the contrast and lighting on the mountain in the BG while not burning out the details in the clouds. I like the silhouetted tree on the left which frames the photo while also adding some perspective to the shot. Some other members might feel different, but I see no problem with the horizon of the lake not being perfectly level as it only follows the contours of the shoreline.
A good composition and POV, the colours are fine considering the lighting conditions, and the details are sharp to infinity.
Well done and TFS.
Regards
Loot

Hi Niek
I love how the big tree and mountain creat a nice balance in your photo. I also love the shape of the tree and how it overhangs the water. I wonder if it is a Cottonwood Tree (a type of Poplar) Another nice, quiet spot.

The composition and elements here are very strong, Niek. The more I look at the tree the more I like it. The sky is great, too. But I'd really like to see you work your layer magic here to bring out more details and color in the tree (so it's not just in silouette) if such a thing is possible. I think some more green in this tree could bring this shot to the "stellar" level.
Mike

Hi Niek,
Wow! This is a great POV and composition. Who cares about the absence of blue sky here, this picture is amazing! I like those little and very strange shaped mountain. Great DOF with excellent details. Very well done. Thanks,
Claudine

Hi Niek,

Another great shot and one that proves that it doesn't have to be sunny to capture nice images - this is very nicely composed and a lovely peaceful scene.
ps I'm not sure if the horizon has suffered a little barrel distortion, was this shot at the widest setting?

Wonderful place, lovely image. TFS, Doug

I do like your choice of composition here Niek. There are some nice foreground elements and great lighting. Part of me agrees with Mike about bringing out more color in the tree, but another part really likes the subtle, limited range of hues. Nice work.

I like your composition Niek, super colours too. The greyness of the sky makes the water quite dull. The snow on the Sinopah Mountain shows up well too. TFS
