[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This Twelve -Spotted Skimmer was sunning himself on the tip of an dried weed stem in an open meadow area. There was a reservoir nearby...this envirnoment is the typical place ot find this flamboyant fellow. This species was called the Ten-Spotted for many years because the white spots were counted, but now it has become the Twelve-Spotted by virtue of it's brown spots on the wings. Territorial disputes are settled by which male can fly vertical loops around the other.

Leslay, What a beautiful species. I have never seen this one before. You caught it well.
Looking closer at your picture I thought a little WS could improve things. Let me know what you think.
Greetings, Jan

Very nice shot, in our region we don't have this type of dragonfly. Colors are beautiful.
Congratulations.

A very nice capture.
Excellent detail and DoF.
Very well done.

Beautiful capture of a gorgeous critter, nice to see other than European species ;-))
Sharp all over, good colours and a nicely oof background.

I've seen a lot of dragons here, but not this one. It is lovely and you have captured him very nicely. Simple, yet very striking composition. Thanx for sharing this with us.

Very good picture of a beautiful Skimmer Lesley - wish we had such in Denmark. Colours are just great and the background really sets him off - perfect. Nice and informative note too.

Though I have to agree with Jan. There is much more sharpness in your picture and also I would crop out some of the top to balance the picture - IMO of course. So I took the liberty to make a WS - hope it is OK.

Excellent shot Lesley, The wings are caught in great detail. Good informative note, nice DOF and colours.
Well caught!

Finally we get a superb example of one of the more colourful American dragonflies, this is pretty well spot on only the tip of the tail slightly soft, some intresting bits in the notes too, thank you for sharring this one Lesley

Lesley, I thought this was a 12 Spotted Skimmer, I count 24! ;-) Great shot, all the elements are strong and of course, a bit too much space topside. P.S. Shot my first "Dragon" today although it was only about 1 1/2" long..a baby I guess!

Stunning one, this, Lesley. That Canon lens is a beaut. Handheld? How far away can you get this close? I love this, very delicate and detailed at the same time.

Hola Lesley: A very very very beautiful, interesting dragonfly, I had not seen something like that, I have done with only a fragment of black color in their wings but not in this form that your you present us, thank you to show it, cordial greetings. A great picture. Congratulations. *Ninfa Urania*

Fantastic detail, and background colouring contrasts nicely with the skimmer. Nice shot Lesley.

Beautiful! Very clear and good picture and such a beautiful insect. Did it sit still while you took the picture?
