Taking a walk along the Bike Path, I found this huge field of wildflowers. From what I remember they are called Trilium or bloodroot because if you pick them they actually have red blood come out of the stems. Also from what I remember they are protected so that you cannot pick them.

Edit ...after Claudine commented that she didn't think they were trilliums I decided I better double check.I was right on the bloodroot, but thats what they are called just that bloodroot. Not Trilliums..thanks Claudine. A photo of them can be found here...

I will post a close up tomorrow..:o)

I had to size this down quite abit to get it to fit into the specs for treknature, and resharpened.

Thanks for your visit to my gallery and your comments on my photos.

Those are very nice wildflowers indeed! Judging from your EXIF data though, you could easily have lowered your shutter speed and stopped down your aperture to something more like F12 or more in order to get more detail and DOF in the flowers. That stick in the flowers to the left is a bit distracting as well.
I find that sometimes in the composition I have to carefully remove stuff like that before actually taking the shot.

Hi Donna

What a lovely bunch of bloodroots you have here!
They really look cute but i must say that their name is indeed very strange (even if it's justified) :)
Lovely colors and details throughout the entire frame, although i must agree with Tim on the shutterspeed/apperture relation.
Anyway, well done.

Bravo and TFS

Hola Donna,
maravillosa vista,
preciosas flores y pov.
saludos

Trillium generally have three leaves from which a three petalled flower grows... therefore the name. This is a nice record of these little bloodroot, but the photo lacks a focal point, or compositional design. Maybe trying a lower point of view to get some flowers larger in the foreground would be an idea.

Hello Donna,
Beautiful carpet of flowers you captured for us with nice colors and sharpness, thanks Donna.

Hello Dona,
This is very nice and I'm amazed by this abundance of flowers. Spring is so beautiful! I'm not sure though that they are Trillium. I have posted a picture of one recently and it seems to me that they don't have the same shape. The one I posted is red but I know that there are white ones too. I must been mistaken because the one I see was from very close. Anyway, this is a very nice seasonal picture :-)
