Great Blue Heron, Bel Mar Park, Lakewood, Colorado

This is a Great Blue Heron captured in the Upper South Platte River system. This bird is common along the South Platte but is hard to spot at times. I was out birding with a friend this morning and as wee were leaving this beauty landed on the wooden walkway. I was about 15 meters from the bird when I captured this image. Wing span approximately 48 inches and this bird is standing about 18-20 inches.

I was also using a Nikkor 1.7X Teleconverter with the 200-400 zoom.

Hi John,
This is a cute pose that you captured. It appears to be sharply focused, but it is so over exposed that much of the detail in the feathers is not visible. I took a crack at adjusting it in the workshop.
Regards, Joel
