[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Death Valley can be very stark. It lacks the softness and transitions that plants can add to an image of geologic features. So much of the topography there is crumbly rock that detract (IMHO) from strong sculptural shapes. That is why I like this image. I like the smoother contours. I believe these are ancient sand dunes petrified into these hills. What Death Valley can have is very strong, clear light.

Hola Evelynn,
Una foto muy, pero muy buena de esta formación geológica; casi un abstracto, mostrando solo relieve y cielo. Muy lindos colores y texturas.Un trabajo simple en cuanto a los elementos, pero efectivo.
Saludos
Hernán

Hi Evelynn,
Very nice presentation of the erosional process in Death Valley. Almost like abstract art. And hey, your sky is bluer than mine :).
Best wishes,
Hakan

Hi Evelyn!
It's a very artistic capture of these bare hills - immense forms and colors are really impressive.

Hello Evelynn

A very powerful image.I think the fact that the amazing blue sky has been reduced to a sliver at the top and the way you composed the shot to make the viewer look up towards the dwarfed sky gives that impression of enormity.I really like the way the rock is worn. The contrast of colour is very good.An excellent POV,just makes you feel small and insignificant doesn't it?The light is illuminating the rock very well.A beautiful addition to your gallery.TFS

That is a stunning scene, even from the thumbnail.
I think it was the light... as you said, very clear and strong.
The blue sky offers a striking contrast to these golden hills with the beautiful curves and the interesting texture.
I almost wish there were a tad more sky, but the composition is excellent as it is.
TFS. : )

Hi Evelyn

This looks like Zabrinske Point? Lovely smooth forms showing drainage patterns - contrasts well with the stark blue sky. Excellent harsh desert light.

James

Hi Evelynn,

I love this picture. Wonderful facets and lines. Another top landscape. Excellent focus, DOF, the whole scene is in focus. Well done.

Jan-Hendrik

I must say, this is really a successful shot! I love the diagonal lines and textures in the composition. Very nice work.

Great idea, and the colors and shapes are wonderful, Evelynn. My only nit is that I think it feels a little too close and tight, though, and I wish you had shot it just a bit wider, though I don't know what extra space you might have had.
Mike

Hello Evelynn,
What a warm picture's colouration! And a lovely place! I like DOF, POV and short, but interesting note.
By the way, how high is that mountain???
Regards,
Radomir

Hello Evelynn,
This is an image depicting interesting textures, showing how hostile nature can be!
Good lines in the composition, creating a dynamic pattern...
Attractive colour palette!

Hola Evelynn.
Impresionante la sequedad de este desierto.
Por otra parte hermosos colores y una muy estupenda luz, con la que has captado esta belleza de la tierra.
Saludos, JL.

Hi Evelynn,
What a strange looking place. No trees or plant life what so ever. Just the earth tones and shapes. This is surely a hell for me to find an interesting composition to capture. You did good, since you were able to make a wonderful abstract photo of it. The lines and shapes are very interesting and the harsh light worked to your benefit to make the lines even stronger. Some very small pixelation from sharpening visable along the edge of the mountian, but I seem to be running into it as well.
TFS,
Niek
