...like Ducks in a Pond

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
I remember well my first digital camera. Although it didn't shoot at high resolution, it had an optical zoom of 10X by Olympus. Shot 15 frames per second in high resolution. Very revolutionary with clear shots. I just sold that camera 2 months ago and already I miss it.
+Both pictured are Mallard ducks. To the left is the drake. Mallards are very common on a small pond we locals called Somday Retreat, created by beavers and populated by dozens of various mammals and fowl. Even a cougar from time to time....It somewhere on the valley floor between two National Forests; Colville and Okanogan. Without a zoom lens, ducks are quite skittish and will fly away at the sight of people, unless they are in a public pond where they are used to humans who toss them bread mostly. I often wondered why bread...or why anything...I suppose it is natural to want to be a part of the moment and this is the way their interaction works.
+I learn the instant gratification of digital at this point. After years of chemical abused hands in developing trays, it was almost too easy. And as many a great photographer will tell you, it's all about location. The less animal, flower, scenic activity or presents, the chances of feeling a picture....or feeling anything is rare. Sometimes I see it in Ansel's shots...The desolation....yet he had a place to go home to...and so did Thoreau for that matter. His trip to Walden was really only a year or so...
+"The moment always dictates in my work....Everybody can look, but they don't necessarily see....I see a situation and I know that it's right." -André Kertész
+Did the advent of digital mean anyone could be a photographer? Was it a threat to my job? Quick answer was originally no...based on Kertesz statement...but I soon found out that digital opened up that statement and like birds let free from the cage, everyone had an equal opportunity now. And this leaves me with unique pictures...but among so many others. This is why I chose to define my pictures by expression of thought and word...which is why this note is long as many of my others....
+So Here Are Ducks!

You don't just photograph your subjects, you think about them and about your media...that's awesome!! :)
Hi Bob
Nice portrait, with great colors and composition
plus your comments all ways so instructive,TFS
best Regards/Lawhill
Without going into the pros and cons of digital and film-based photography, I have only to say this that this is a great image both technically and aesthetically, Bob.
Well done and thanks for sharing this beautiful picture.

Hi Bob,
a nice shot that is well framed and composed.
Well done,
Joey
Lovely shot. I particularly like photos that give a sense of intimacy, put the viewer in the photographer's shoes, so to speak. Peering through the branches here with you is a perfect example. Every now and then I manage to get one like this, but it's usually just dumb luck on my part, lol.
Thanks, too, for the notes :-)
