Origin : Native
Season : Warm
Tasajillo is a thicket-forming cactus that stands from about 1/2 to 6 1/2 feet tall. The trunk measures 1/2 to 4 inches in diameter. The stems are cylindrical and in varying shades of green. The small greenish-yellow flowers bloom from July to August. The red berries are eaten by white-tailed deer, quail, turkey and other small mammals. Cactus wrens are known to nest in larger plants. White-tailed deer also eat the succulent new growth, but Tasajillo is of no use to livestock or humans. The spines stick into the flesh of livestock and humans and are difficult to remove.

Angelina, a lovely and delicate scene.

I like the droplets and the vivid colors, as well as lighting.

Haven't you thought of playing around with brightness, contrast and saturation? Maybe, they could make image pop out even more, but, of course, it's just an opinion; besides, the image is already great enough.

Hello Angelina,
This is a very interesting plant that I have never seen before... We don't have cactus growing in the wild and I think that this is much interesting. Regarding the picture, I would have the same comments than Livios' as I think that to play with contrast and saturation will help to enhance this nice picture. Thanks,
Claudine

Hi Angelina,

A stunning shot of this cactus plant. I don't think we have them here in Tucson. The colors are magnificent. Wonderful clarity. A beautiful composition.

An interesting plant and you captured a few water droplets in a descending pattern. May as well take advantage of all the rain we are having. You have excellent DOF and the colors are good. Again, I think exposure is outstanding. In my opinion, the greatest strength of this one is the razor sharp focus which is amazing for a shutter speed of 1/25s.

Nice shot of an unusual cacti...The red berries really stand out...Rain drops and spider webs add much to the photo...Another fine note...I feel like I should be earning a degree reading them...Hope all your recent rain doesn't have an adverse effect on all your beatiful butterflies...:)

Hello Angelina,
Nice macro with many interesting details!
The red berries really stand out in a pleasant colour contrast with the greenery...
Good work with DOF spot on, subject is well framed!
Greetings,
Pablo -

hola angelina
jolie phot, de tres bons détails, malgré peut etre un petit manque de netteté, mais tres bon, bravo et merci

Very complex picture with so many points of interest. Various growth stages, webs and water droplets. Wonder how it got wet. A little rain perhaps in Texas. As unusual well done. And different from some of your others. The rain has washed changing patterns on the ranch.
