This is and other shot of SEA-GULL. I been try to ID this one and they are hard to mach; they are more than twenty different species, all over the world.
Hybridization between species of gull occurs quite frequently, although to varying degrees depending on the species involved .The taxonomy of the large white-headed gulls is particularly complicated.
In common usage, members of various gull species are often called sea gulls or seagulls. This name is used by laypeople to refer to a common local species or all gulls in general, and has no fixed taxonomic meaning.
I found that Heermann's Gull sometimes pirates prey from other seabirds, particularly Brown Pelicans, with which it often associates. I have several pictures were this sea gull fly on top of the pelican head I been posted some next days, since in south Florida we have a raining week end I be on the computer longer.
thanks Lawhill.

Hi Lawhill,
Such an outstanding shot of this flying seagull. Neat and sharp details and fine focus. Perfect natural lighting and nice colours on its plummage. Excellent POV and DOF. I like its searching intense look and the waves splashing BG. Gives such a beautiful tone to the shot. Very nicely composed and presented. Kudos.
TFS.

This one looks like a complex production number. The frame, the background....and the wonderful texture. It makes this gull look otherworldly. This picture has a totally different eel to it which I cannot describe in words alone. Nut whatever it is, it works better than you had perhaps thought. Folks definitely need to see this one....

Hola Lawhill. Una exelente foto llena de accion, tanto de la gaviota como las de las hermosas olas del mar. Luis52.

Hello Lawhill
Very nice in-flight capture of the seagull. Composition and exposure are spot on. I noticed what seems to my eyes a slight greenish color cast and posted a ws. TFS.

Funny I was going to ask how you're taking these photos in all the rain. :)
I'm just glad you guys are getting some much needs rains.

Another well composed well thought out shot!

You have captured the sea gull in an elegant posture in flight, Lawhill.
Very good perspective, sharpness and composition. The partially cloudy sky serves as a wonderful background.
TFS.

I think this is the type of gull shot most try to get in the life.
For up in the air shooting you sure have a good exposure, and detail.
