I love this shot,and being a former stand up comedian myself,I love the title.
Your capture is excellent. A great pose and wonderful clarity and colour.
I was wondering myself whether this might actually be a female (on account of the titties) but then I guess you'd know bears better than me.

Hoi Harry, wat een fantastisch portret. Langzaam kunnen we zien wat een fantastische reis jij hebt gemaakt, en daarbij prachtige plaatjes geschoten. Dit is weer een topper. Ben erg benieuwd naar wat volgt hoewel ik moet toegeven dat ik enige jaloezie mij niet vreemd is met zo;n prachtige reis.

Hi Harry

I'm not so sure that this guy will do well as a "stand up comedian" as he would probably scare the heck out of his audience (chuckle). Those claws are not made for hand clapping.

A great capture though with an excellent pose. The blue reflection on the water surface acted as a great BG that compliments this juvenile grizzly (hope I am right this time – see my PS1). The colours are very natural and the exposure was perfect. I love how you have frozen the droplets in midair after this guy obviously just stood up out of the water. The composition and cropping are well done and the bear have sufficient space to stare into.

PS1. I incorrectly called an European brown bear a grizzly in a posting done by Eduard Baak (snowfalken). Afterwards he corrected me and then I did a quick check on the names and distribution of the various brown bears. Just as a matter of interest you can see my reply here.

Wow this is superb Harry.
Can't believe the size of those claws!
Fantastic detail and perfect technical control of the image.
The 70-200 is an amazing lens and so sharp, I have only just got hold of mine this week and I already love it to bits!
You have an outstanding collection of professional photographs.

Is this not a female? I think it is a she, and a she who might be nursing cubs from the look of things ...

Seems to be a little backlit which makes for an interesting pic.

Ok, now this shot is just awesome. The DOF is amazing almost looks 3D with the bear just poping out of the photo. Sharpness, contrast, and composition is great.
