[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is another photo of the large bull moose that I played with over the weekend. Although they do have the tendency to become violent, I listened to my gut and stayed with him. He played small games with me, and every so often, he'd snack on a few leaves. Other than my camera, I had nothing else with me...I wondered if a trekking stick could be mistaken for a rifle, so rather than find out the hard way, I took my chances.

I know it had to be around a hundred degrees that afternoon, and like most animals, he wanted the shade. I noticed how his size clearly intimidates other animals because as he and I spent time together, I had the sense something else was stalking me. I never saw it (though I'm told there's been a couple of cougars sited here), he merely walked over to an area of high grass, snorted, stamped his hoof a couple of times and whatever it was left in a hurry. I could hear the grass parting as the other animal left. After, and I'm told this is rare, the moose came back to me...almost as if to make sure I was okay.

Although they use water to cool down, this bull stayed in the shade instead. There was a pond about a mile away, but for whatever reason, he stayed here. If I had the opportunity to repeat this experience, I wouldn't think twice. They are truly wonderous creatures.
