[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a friendly juvenile Great Blue Heron I came across while in Florida last week. The GB Heron is the largest and heaviest in the Heron family and has a large thick bill. I find it odd that my reference guide ( Sibley ) claims that this Heron is nocturnal when I always see them hunting in the day time. They are long legged waders and can be seen in the shallows of ponds and salt marshes hunting for fish. They are also usually solitary.

Superb portrail Lesley. I like shape of its neck, details of feathers, yellow eye. Separation between BG and heron is perfect.

Hello Lesley! Gorgeous closeup of this beautiful heron! Such marvellous detail of the feathers, especially the wispy ones behind the eye. They are so shy here in Ontario Canada, you are so lucky to get in that close. Excellent capture!

Superb shot Lesley. Lovely composition. Looks like a snake. Details and light are gorgeous. I love it.
