Baby calf peeking

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Last summer my friend and I were driving around to locate wildlife and we stumbled on this baby moose. What I did at the time could've gotten me the Darwin Award had this fellow's mother returned.
Not knowing any better, I walked into the bush as far as I could to get a better shot. As you might note, the bush is thick and I wormed my way in several feet, unable to go any further when I reached the point where this photo was taken.
Later, when I showed this photo to a friend of mine, she said I must've had an angel watching over me because the mother would have seen me as a threat and trampled my hide. By the way, I won't ever pull that stunt again. This shot was actually the start of my love for moose. Instead of diminishing over time, my love has increased for these comical, yet unpredictable creatures.
I don't regret taking this photo, but I can assure you that I am more careful these days, and while I'm willing to take a few risks, that particular escapade fell along the lines of stupid. (Being from the city, this was my first time to see something of this nature in the 'wild' and so I was never aware I put my life in danger.) |
