Thompson Lake is a large, clean lake in southwestern Maine, spanning parts of the towns of Casco, Oxford, Otisfield, and Poland. It is shown here from Oxford. The lake covers 4,426 acres, with a maximum depth of 121 ft. It is about 12 miles long, and averages about 2 miles in width. The shoreline varies from shallow and sandy to steep and rocky.
The lake was the target of a three-year watershed management plan grant from the Maine Dept. of Environmental Protection from 2001 to 2004 to help minimize and prevent nonpoint source pollution. Areas such as this also help retain their scenic beauty thanks to state and local shoreland zoning laws.
9/2: Added large post -- finally got quality I could live with by following suggestion to cap height at 800 pixels. |

Hello Jim! Beautiful clouds. Beautiful perspective. Very nice picture. Best regards!
I like your wide panoramic view of this scene. The clouds are great. There is good sharpness, color saturation and perfect exposure.

Very nice and you are quite correct. There are clear days which you show well in this clear panoramic view and landscape. Maine is a beautiful place. Let's hope it stays that way. Well done all around.
