Info on the Ruby-throated Hummingbird

It was a cloudy, stormy, rainy day along the coast so I decided to go to Sundance Garden, a small wildflower area in Texas City. The rain stopped and a variety of insects and birds came out to enjoy the coolness of the cloudy afternoon. I was surprised by the appearance of three hummingbirds, two females and a male. They didn't seem too happy with my invasion of their area, buzzing me and chirping loudly. I managed to get a few photos of them along with a some butterflies and bugs. It's my first photograph of a Hummer and I will be going back on a sunny day to try and capture the beauty of their iridescent colors.

Good morning! Excellent closeup shot of this hummingbird! We can see her tightly gripping the little vine. Beautiful wildlife setting behind her. Well done!

TFS!
Reid

They are territorial little creatures Jim :) This is a very nice composition with good colors and perspective. I think that a smaller aperture could have brought out more details but it is still a very well done and beautiful capture with beautiful environment. Thanks!
Claudine

Hello Jim,
This otherwise dull female Ruby-throated looks really good when shown surrounded by the colorful BG and decorative vegetation. In a ddition you've caught her from an excellent POV in a good pose in a pretty sharp and well-composed shot.

Ivan

I'm going to quit being your friend if you keep this up. ha ha This is an awesome shot!!! Great closeup-you did an outstanding job!

You should be getting a lot more in the next few weeks. From what I read many species head your direction in the early fall.

I'm not sure what has happened to make your photos bump up a notch or two? Excellent quality photography. Soft enough yet still perfect details.Colors blend together so well with proper f-stop. All is well in the world. I am liking what I see! Notations done well..my goodness!

Hi Jim, splendid bird in great pose with lovely details, great colors, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hello Jim,
a wonderful hammingbird, sharp and well focused; but I love the colors of the BG, they are so bright, living, it seems to be in a tale. The shot wouldn't be the same without. Great!
Wishes,
Violetta

Superbe, beaux détails, belle prise.
Bravo
