Giant Swallowtail Butterfly

Another butterfly from Sundance Garden*. On this day there were Giant Swallowtails, Black Swallowtails, little brown furry Long-Tails, big yellow Sulphers, orange Fritillaries, a variety of small butterflies, Honey Bees, Bumble Bees, a big Leaf-Footed Bug, thousands of Love-Bugs, a Garter Snake, Frogs, Dragonflies, a Golden Silk Orb-Weaver Spider, a Blue-Bottle Fly, a variety of birds and a multitude of bright colorful flowers. All with-in the 30 square foot area making up the garden. And these are just what were visible during my short visit. I wonder what other creatures lurked beneath the thick vegetation, hiding until I had departed. I wait with much antisipation to see what animals, insects, birds and flowers Autumn will bring to the little sanctuary. Kudos to the people whom have made this tiny oasis of beauty a reality.

Hello Jim,
What a superb picture of this wonderful specie. Its colors are amazing and you caught excellent details that show us those beautiful patterns on its wings. Composition is very well done and color saturation is strong and beautiful! This place seems like a great place for pictures :-) Well done and TFS'

Another beauty! Amazing lighting and perfect color.
You really captured some amazing details here and again, the colors are GLORIOUS!

Your pictures are as great as your notes. You really bumped it up a notch as I have seen a number of times in my short months on TN. TN is like medicine for the camera eye. Great perch for the butterfly as well..Again the flower almost dominates but not in a negative way.

Hello Jim,
Lovely sharp capture of this elegant butterfly balancing on the bright flower. Fine light and beautiful colours. I like your composition too.
Many thanks, Ulla

Hi Jim
Very nice colorful photo of buttrfly. Good composition with main object on the right, nice OOF not disturbing buckgroun. Unfortunately sharpness is not perfect but that's how it is with butterflies :-)
Best wishes
Krzysztof
