Long-tailed Skipper

I have seen these small butterflies on many occasions at the gardens. For the most part they are skittish and wary of human presence. I found the long tail interesting along with the beautiful blue tint on the inside of the wings. I have yet to get a good shot of one with it's wings open. Thanks for looking. Best wishes to all, Jim

bonjour
tu nous montres là une composition excellente, tout est bon, dommage que l'on ne voit pas le papillon en entier, mais joli malgré tout, les couleurs sont claires et nettes
beau travail
merci a toi
edith

Hello Jim,
Good detail in the butterfly in very colourful surroundings. DOF and focus are all good. I would prefer a tighter crop that showed more insect and less flower, but this is a personal preference. Thanks
Alan

I love the details on the skipper itself. superb sharpness and colour on your main subject (I think I might have cropped it little closer, though since the brilliance of the flower seems to distract just a little -- but that is strictly a matter of personal taste).
Great notes!

Hello Jim,
This is a really beautiful Skipper with a long tail that you're showing here. I like your POV and the details are very sharp and its colours natural. The flower is a bit over-powering, perhaps you could crop it tighter?
Even so well done!
TFS and regards, Ulla

My how the skipper is almost upstaged by the brilliant red of the flora, however the skipper is much more active eh? And he certainly pops off the page. I could see this picture in thumbnail across the room on my small laptop!

Hello Jim,
I think the sharpness and general quality of this presentation of the Long-tailed Skipper is even better than your first. In this composition the red flower dominates a little but the skipper looks good.
TFS and best wishes,
Ivan

Hi Jim,
Another beautiful capture of this long tailed skipper. This time the composition is much more fine. Love the details. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Superbe papillon avec beauocup de détails, mais sur mon écran les fleurs sont tropaccentuées, c'est toujours difficile de faire ressortir les détails et ne pas brouiller le reste.
Bravo
Marie

Great bright red flowers. Many warm green colors to balance. Good sharp image of the butterfly. Well done.

TFS!

Hello Jim,
The inconspicuous, small butterfly chose himself the very attractive place among the intensely pink flower of hydrangea. Very nicely framing photo, well placed sharpness on the butterfly. Delicate green of leaves to state nice background.
Best regards from Poznan,
Jurek

Hi Jim,
You know, this species gets around here in Texas. I just captured this one for the first time yesterday. Well composed with good detail, exposure, color, POV, and DOF.
Well done!

Hi Jim,
Splendid shot of this beautiful looking Skipper on the even beautiful flowers. Very impressive sharpness and I like the colour contrasts here of the brown, green and vibrant red. The lighting and focus are perfect. Excellent POV to portray this setting and very nicely composed. Kudos.
TFS.
