[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I thought i had a decently wide-angled lens until i came here...no way. Now i think that no matter how wide your lens is, it would still be too small and too narrow for this place :)

I also know you've seen tones of great and amazing pictures of the Grand Canyon and i also know that i'm not a great landscape photographer, but still i wanted to share with you my joy of witnessing this unique place on earth.

I had the chance to see this magnificent creation if mother nature on a small trip my friends and i took last week...and it was well worth it. I also managed to find a very nice rattle-snake there (that came out probably searching for food after the sun had set) but sadly i didn't manage any great pictues of it due to my lack of experience with the new camera and maybe also the fact that it was already dark outside.

Techtalk
I preferred to leave the composition here close to 50-50 because we benefited from a very beautiful and interesting sky that complemented the canyon well in my opinion. I also used the new circular polarizer that i bought for this shot to try to get the best of all the tones and colors of this sunset bliss.

Hope you'll like it.

Hi Horia,
Great picture. Beautiful colors and revelated details of the shadows on the montains. The clouds add lot of impact on this great landscape :-0
Thanks,

Claude

A beautiful breathtaking view. You have some remarkable shadows and the clouds are perfect. You really show us the overwhelming size here.

hi Horia,
ahah, "not a great landscape photographer " it's a joke of course. Really impressive picture with a good contrast and light. I like big storms which give more atmosphère at this.

gaetan

hello horia,

Hi Horia,
WOW! That is a beautiful landscape scene. I agree that the 50-50 goes well for this scene. The clouds make a nice balance. Colors, detail and most of all DOF look great. It takes your breath away!
scott

Hi Horia,
A limited view of the place as you mentioned but a nice picture. Sharp image with great colors. Beautifully composed.

Hello Horia,
a superb shot of this spectacular scene.
I bet it would have looked good as a panorama.
Sharp with superb detail.
Brilliant composition.
Well done,
Joe

Hello Horia
Very intersting scene you captured,
Great composition,lighting and POV,Welldone.

Good Luck

The 50/50 comp works very well. Including the clouds makes the photo very moody. Good choices, TFS.

Hello,
The Grand Canyon is always very impressive. I like the colors in your picture, with the light in the front. And I like the title you gave your photo: it's very true!
Cécile

Hi Horia,
So now you are going to work even more hours to cover the cost for a UWA lens or a pano head? This is surely a very beautiful view that one needs to see in real to experience the wideness of it. But you did give us a wonderful feel of it. Your decision to stay with the 50-50 composition is good, The sky does add a lot to the photo and since you did include some FG element it did balance the photo.
I hope you are having a hell of a time in the US and I hope that you new toy will capture many beauties like these.
TFS,
Niek

wow...i don't know Horia, i think you've squeezed quite alot in here! What a view! I agree, the 50-50 composition of land and sky is definitely the right choice and the CP has worked very well indeed. The light is just fantastic. It seems you are making the most out of your time in the U.S! Looking forward to more, great work my friend.

Wow Horia what a view! Lovely colours and light. I can recommend the Sigma 10-20 as a gret lens. I thought my Canon 17-85 was decent until I got my new lens. This is somewhere I have never been but it looks amazing

Hi my Romanian Friend!
It was long time ago since we exchanged some emials and comments :) I hope that you work gives you a little free time for relax and taking pictures like this one :) So once again welcom back!!! :)
And this photo is very impressive and presents a fascinating place. I like a lot panoramic POV and mosaic of colours. DOF and details are also very nice for watching.
But because TN is the place where we can write also contructive critique - not only compliments, here are some things which I would like to change:

1. proportion between land and sky. Now it is about 50:50 and that does not look very good for me. I understand that you wanted to keep much more clouds on the picture (they are really nice) but I believe that 2:1 (land:sky) would be better. But of course that is only my opinion :)

2. the line of horizon - maybe it is only because of my eye (please remember that I have glasses :>) but I think that on the right side it is lower that on the left one. I really like to watch pictures with asymetry but in case of such landscape photo it does not work to much. But please not that this is again only my POV :)

Once again it is nice to see you again on TN and and hope to see you here soon for longer time :>
Have a nice weekend my Friend,
Radomir

Your notes are so interesting to read Horia. You know what? I have never been there and you did!!! America is big! This is an impressive POV and scenery that you captured well. Those clouds are amazing by creating this shadow on those impressive rock formations. I wonder why you used such a high shutter speed though if you had a tripod… I probably would have set it at the minimum (handheld) shutter speed and smallest aperture (1/60 – F 11?)… Colors are superb!

You are lucky to have visited this mythical place; I can't wait for the snake now :) Thanks,
Claudine

Hi Horia.
I see work of your new equipment very well. You are right, of course. 17 mm on crop is not so wide. However you managed to reproduce the beauty of this place excellently with help of wonderful picture. Lights, shadows, colours are excellent as well as the crisp sharpness of the image. My best wishes and compliments. Well done.
Alexei.
