For whatever reason, last week seemed to be a turtle day. I've never taken a photo of a turtle before, and then I find several on a pipe just taking in the sun. I think there are eight of them. I managed to get a couple of single turtles as well, but this one caught my attention the most. For some reason, I was reminded of that old saying 'bump on a log' and figured this is what my mother meant: sitting staring at nothing, enjoying the sun, and not really caring about anything else.
Although I've always heard that turtles are slow, I was amazed at how quickly these critters slid back into the water when they noticed me. And, at the moment I am unable to find my Audobon book to identify these particular turtles, but I do know they are not snapping ones - however, this lake does house several.
Frankly, I took this photo because they amused me. I was quite a distance away, and had I been closer, the focus would've been much better and the picture much sharper. Still, since I was across somebody's private property and the pipe several feet out into the water (and I was standing on the highway), I took what I could get in this case. |

Wonderful composition and line-up! They are certainly in-sync there! :)
So how is the fest?
