Today I stand at the edge of the fence and peer deep into the refuge area. Well aware of the dangers of snakes and covering my feet with only Birkenstocks, no socks...and pants so thin, it would be quite risky for me to go deeper over the fence. Signs are posted on the main trial and warn hikers and bikers NOT to go off of the trail. The signs list no reason for the warning . It is up to the imagination. So I take a picture or two and decided that would have to suffice for today. Again these are Aspens. Smaller ones than I had in the mountains. The thicket of Aspens is surrounded by tall pines and firs. The sun is behind them and in from of me, playing tricks with me...yet I do believe I can see a Sprite in there. Can you see it? I can hear my creek as it slowly goes over the rocks and downhill....I can smell the smoke coming from my cabin chimney. I can see colors and all of my sense are awaken, yet a branch snaps and time has changed....my location is a hundred miles away...with a camera in hand and no feeling in my feet.

Perhaps I can explain it better if I say...I am a natural being and I see naturally, but beyond that there is something in my brain which few others have. I cannot say what it is. I can say how it feels. When it feels good, it brings on pleasant memories in all of my senses. Succinctly it is like an enhancing of all my feelings as though I had injected some substance...and yet it is only the vision and the will, motivation and memory. When all of these things, plus more of which I am not aware take effect.,...I see for many. That is when I click the shutter release and it is as though I have captured a piece of my whole life at one particular moment in time. It is also how I critique. I can see when someone has captured a moment in time or a feeling in the soul. Some do it as if it were as easy as breathing...like Sumon. The camera is an extension of his whole being. And one more who captures feelings and is able to send them via pictures is Markus Peissard or Heaven as he calls himself. I know how he feels when he clicks the shutter release. It is a puzzle on how this works...but it does....and so here is a completely natural setting of a moment in time.

Hello Bob,
Lovely contrast between the trunk and the foliage in backlight!
Autumn colours are present and giving nature a short boost before the seasonal end...
Well framed, good details!
Greetings,

Hi Bob,

I'm not sure which I enjoy more - your pictures or your notes. Both are wonderful and rare. This is a lovely woods scene with the yellow leaves behind the dark tree trunk. Wonderful light coming through and the glimpses of sky. Your shots always remind me of what I left behind when I came to the desert.
