Groove Thang :-)

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This is "Groovy" a Tawny Owl that I worked with. I took this shot with one hand while holding her on the other hand. She is about 9 years old and was unfortunately called a 'he' for the first 8 years of her life, because she didn't lay eggs until then. She actually had a few shots in the first Harry Potter (with all the owls delivering letters), in an episode of Charmed, and in the latest Evan Almighty (where you can actually see my boss's name listed as a trainer: Tony Suffredini).
They are considered a medium-sized owl (36 to 45cm) with a robust body and a large, round head... however, they seem rather small - they are comparatively speaking closest to the size of the Burrowing owl. Its gray, brown and red morphs intergrade and vary mainly in the background color. The facial disk is generally pale with darker concentric rings, and the eyes are blackish-brown.

Her feathers look so soft! Great clarity, Steph! I also like how you can almost see you in her eyes. Well done!
Hi Steph,
Excellent tight composition. Good colors and intricate detail in the plumage. Looks great!
