I had no idea how popular these Turk's Caps would be but I'm glad I've planted them. They tend to take over the garden but I'm not worried about that. :)

From Wiki:
he Gulf Fritillary, Agraulis vanillae, a striking, bright orange butterfly of the family Nymphalidae, subfamily Heliconiinae. These were formerly classified in a separate family, the Heliconiidae or longwing butterflies, and like other longwings this species does have long, rather narrow wings in comparison with other butterflies. It is not closely related to the true fritillaries. It is a medium to large butterfly, with a wingspan of from 6 to 9.5 cm. Its underwings are buff, with large silvery spots. It takes its name from the fact that migrating flights of the butterflies are sometimes seen over the Gulf of Mexico.

The Gulf Fritillary is commonly seen in parks and gardens, as well as in open country. Its range extends from Argentina through Central America Mexico, and the West Indies to the southern United States, as far north as the San Francisco Bay Area on the west coast. It is occasionally found further north in the US.

Here, in Calgary, we CANNOT plant the "Turk's Cap", Angelina.
Our Summers can be HOT but the Summer nights are down right COLD; that kills the delcate "Turk's Caps". Hence, less butterflies.
Loved your notes too. But, the image is very UNIQUE. The "green" of the Cap diagonaling to the right and the lovely Monarch to the left "Ready for Take-off".
Congratulations,
Mario.

An unusual POV with wonderful results.
I like the way the nether wings of the butterfly glow and shine in the uneven sunlight.
Great innovation here, Angelina.

Angelina...the clarity on the wings is brilliant. It is so nice seeing these from your perspective.
To me it appears this butterfly is ready to take the Turk Cap for a ride.
Again I like the focus on the antennae.
I never get to see such nice butterflies here. Be worth the trip just to spend a day in your yard.TFS

With you back in photo shape...watch out nature world. You are so good and yet do not have to go far. See? You live in the Garden of Eden of butterflies and hummingbirds which you picture so well.
