Hi Tom,
what a loud and colourful looking head shot of Mr. Mallard.It looks huge on my 27" monitor I can tell you and the detail is tremendous the only "crit" is it is a little soft on the focus but still a worthwhile photo for TN.Tfs.I tried a workshop for this one Tom,I hope you find it useful. Bob

Tom, If you have photoshop....try using the unsharp mask filter for this photo...

I would suggest you try to sharpen the entire photo first using settings like:
Amount: 100%
Radius: 1.0 pixels
Threshold: 0 levels

Then you may try and select a circular area around the eye and the feather the selection about 10 pixels or so and then use the unsharp mask filter again to further sharped the area around the eye...

How strange - I dreamed of photographing birds and a duck last night. ha ha
