I was excited to see the wonderful colors in this small valley the evening before and was anxious to photograph it come morning. Naturally, come morning, the rain had also come! ... so had to photograph from the vehicle window using a window platform and beanbag.

I really liked the minimal palette in this scene and the way the two families of color complemented each other. I was also attracted to these cone shaped spruce trees.

Hi Evelynn

Greetings from California!

I really like the muted tones - actually I think the overcast conditions help display the range of tones very well. This is a scene we do not see in the UK - we only have on native pine - the Scots Pine - all the rest are intoduces an grow in rigid plantations - all the same age.

HI Evelynn,
probably not the response you were looking for here, but i really like the background! The main part, the trees and the lovely coloured grasses and plants are of course excellent and well framed, butit's that giant wall of Spruce i especially like...it speaks of Big Country to me.
Great work as ever,
Paul

Hello Evelynn,

Hi Evelynn,
What a grand collection of Christmas trees! Joking apart, this is a very fine vertical composition showing these beautiful and very tall spruces with the brightly coloured grasses and the bog in the foreground. I like the hazy forest in the background too and the overall colours are beautiful.
Many thanks, Ulla

Hi Evelynn.
Your forest shot is really amazing. The trees and their shapes are superb as well as the colours of the picture. I am impresses with your framing. It is wonderful. DOF and details/sharpness is fantastic. Thanks for this true masterpiece. Bravo.
Alexei.

Evelynn,
So many BEAUTIFUL x-mas trees; I note that "pollution" is killing some of them.
The capture of the colours is MAGNIFICIENT.
I enjoyed this one.
Mario from Calgary.

Hello Evelynn.
I see what you mean about the soft pastels. They are lovely. Also I like how the spruce trees fade as they get further back, and the strong shapes of the forward ones. Also that beautiful brook flowing through the middle. Very lovely. Well done.
Best regards, Steve.

Greetings from (rainy) Seattle.
I like the mood in this shot, Evelynn.
I find the sharp contrast of greens and the warm colors very striking.
I also really enjoy the misty feel of the trees in the BG.

Hi Evelynn

Sorry i've missed some of your last postings...work work work nowadays :(
This is indeed very interesting and quite original. You are right: the minimal color palette of the scene is definitely refreshing among the numerous "typical" autumn colors that we've seen lately (not that they aren't beautiful...heck, i added some myself).
The cone shapes here are also an important factor and really boost the composition here a lot. Also due to their shape, each tree seems to be so well isolated from the next one near it or even in front of it, giving am impression of distance between them and therefore depth.
What i would remark here again is your great talent to compose a landscape (or a shot in general) without any sky in the frame. You've did that many times (even in wide pictures of deers) and with amazing results. It's really original and beautiful.
Great work!

Bravo and TFS
Horia

Its a lovely shot, you've captured this scene perfectly, it will be one of my favourite. It looks like a place that I would love to visit!
TFS,

TK

Such a beautiful shot. I love the small body of water and the DOF of this landscape. Oh and the colors are just wonderful. Nicely composed.

Hi Evelynn!

Those cone in that colored landscape are marvellous! I would like to be a deer and jump through that paradise...

The composition with the growing trees is well seen and done. It's really a very pleasant landscape picture.

Kind regards

Markus
