[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
While visiting the National Botanical Gardens, Bertoldi Park, I was relieved to see these busy bubble bees at work pollinating vigorously this most impressive artichoke flower - it was snowball sized. While they were at work, headlines in the news reported the increasing occurance of bee (honey bee) colony colapse and its reverberating impact in the boutique honey and industrial agri-business alike - the result of a mix of factors (insecticides, pollinating business practices, pathogens).

Thanks to a gerbilratz's note I've corrected my original note. The flower is a Globe Artichoke, (Cynara scolymus).

The flower looks like an artichoke...I grow them here specifically for the bee's...good subject and nice imaging...
