[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
On a recent trip to Martha's Vineyard, I was wandering around Menemsha, a small fishing village on the island, looking for good shots of boats and water reflections, etc. The gulls were plentiful, of course. I noticed one in particular was flying back and forth between two pylons, spaced about 20 feet apart. He would sit for a minute or so on one of them, gazing into the water trying to spot a snack, then fly back to the other pylon. I slipped onto the pier, worked my way down to the edge of the dock, propped myself against a pylon to steady myself, focused on the currently non-gull-occupied pylon and waited. Sure enough, about thirty seconds later, there he was.

Unfortunately, when I looked at the image later, I saw that his wings were spread so wide in the landing that they appeared to almost touch another pylon that was between my camera and him. Cropping the pylon out would have taken part of the gull's wing too, so I decided to edit out the pylon.

I used Photoshop's rubber stamp and blur tools to get rid of it (I'll post the original with more details), then cropped some of the left and top sides of the image, adjusted the levels in Photoshop, sharpened it, resized it, saved it and uploaded it.
