[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This egret is identified as the Common Egret ... but I don't know what's so common about it :-). It is a very elegant bird, stunningly white amid the green water of a pond at the San Diego Wild Animal Park. It was doing its daily business, foraging for food, but I was stalking it to capture its image for posterity. By the way, the bird is also known as the Great Egret and I think you will all agree with me that that name should be the case. This bird by the way is NOT a resident of the animal park - this is a wild bird. Because of the abundance of food in the park, many wild birds (and other animals) decided to stay.

From the Jurica Nature Museum of Benedictine University: "The Common Egret inhabits Oregon south to western Mexico, from Minnesota to the Mississippi Valley and southeast along the Atlantic Coast north to southern New England. It migrates to the Pacific Coast to Oregon southwest to Texas and the Gulf states as well as to the Atlantic Coast and north to New Jersey. (This bird is also found in tropical America and parts of the Old World). Its habitat includes freshwater and saltwater marshes, marshy ponds and tidal flats. Its diet consists of fish, frogs, snakes and crawfish located within shallow waters. This heron is completely white with a yellow bill and black legs. Its voice consists of guttural croaks as well as squawks. The female lays 3-5 pale blue-green eggs on a platform of sticks in a tree or bush. It nests in colonies with other species of herons. The Common Egret is 35-41inches tall."

Bonita captura Kenneth.
Buen encuadre, a pesar de no mostrar la totalidad del ave.
Muy buena nitidez y profundidad.
Siempre los blancos en este tipo de imágenes son difíciles de manejar... esta no es la excepcion, pero el resultado general es muy bueno.

Very good clearness and depth.
The whites in this type of images are always difficult to handle... this is not the exception, but the general result is very good.

Kenneth, a very clean and bright shot of this common egret. Although it is backlighted it still is bright.
