[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I got this picture at the Animal Kingdom, I though it
was a very interesting behavior, and kind of explain why the Gerenuk has big legs.

Gerenuks eat food from higher places rather than from closer to the ground like other gazelles and antelopes eat. They do this by standing up on their hind legs, and stretching out their long necks to get food off of tall bushes. Most of their diet is made up of tender leaves and shoots of prickly bushes and trees, but also includes buds, flowers, fruit, and climbing plants. Gerenuks don’t need grass or water, because they get enough water from the plants that they eat. Because of this, gerenuks can survive in dry thorn-bush county.

Hello Everton,
A funny moment has been captured!
Incredible they are able to stand on two legs like that if only for a short time...
A well composed presentation, nice use of the principle of three!

Hi Everton,

What a great capture of the interesting behavior, all this effort and the poor things have to contend with all the thorns too, nice sharp shot too.

Hi Everton,

This is a fantastic (and humorous) shot. I may have seen Gerenuks at the Animal Kingdom but if I did I didn't know what they were. Wonderful to get three of them in this position. They have to work much harder than giraffes!

Hello Everton

I was excited to see this shot. This is a unique and interesting animal.
Perhaps they will evolve and begin walking upright.LOL.
The shot is well focused with excellent detail.
These creatures look to have lithe and muscular physiques, like the greyhounds of the deer family.
Wonderful colours and a lovely natural looking setting.
Great posting.

Hello Everton,
I really like the composition of this image.
Great portrayal of these gerenuks in their interesting postures.
I saw them at Animal Kingdom last spring and was fascinated by how straight they can stand and how high up they can reach. You captured the behavior very well.
TFS and wishing you a very happy 2008!

Hello Everton,
Very interesting action shot. Congratulations and thanks for sharing.
