One of the few flowers I came across on my way up to Deer Lake via Sol Duc Falls in the Olympic National Park.

I'd be happy to have any help on knowing its species.

Thanks to Richard (earthtraveler) for the identity of the flower. It is a Trillium ovatum, common names Trillium, Wake robin, and Bithroot. There is a similar specie in Minnesota. Here is a wikipedia site to read more about it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trillium

Hi David,
This looks like Trillium ovatum, common names Trillium, Wake robin, and Bithroot. We have a similar specie in Minnesota and I have always known it as Trillium. Here is a wikipedia site to read more about it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trillium
Your image is nicely composed with the fern leaves framing the Trillium. The soft lighting is very nice. Focus detail is pretty good though a bit larger DOF to focus the whole Trillium would benifit IMO. TFS

Hi David,

Excellent capture of the Trillium. I actually like the somewhat limited DOF, which gives the the picture depth, and makes it less "cold".

Cheers!

Ishi

very nice Trillium, TFS Ori

Hello David

This is a trillium,it is the Provincial floral emblem of Ontario where I live.
They grow in the millions in the woods here each Spring.
Wonderful crisp focus with a lovely OOF BG.
The lighting is well done and the colours are rich and well saturated.
TFS

Rob
