[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I have a flower box. My husband installed in on our deck 2 years ago on my birthday. I tried - REALLY tried - to grow flowers in it but they always died, no matter how much work I put into them. I decided I must have a black, not green, thumb.

So, I use the flower box to feed the birds now - so the investment does not go to waste. It's perfect! The birds love it, feel protected, and I can see them clearly from my back door.

Then I bought a suet cake for the woodpeckers (I couldn't bear to leave them out of the treat fest). I suppose I should have checked with our Homeowner's Association first, but I didn't. They said I could not hang it in the trees. They also said I could not put a nail in the stucco to hang it from my deck. So, I shoved it into the flower box today. This female woodpecker wasted no time finding it. So cool to have a woodpecker right on our deck! This photo is just an interest photo. Not expecting points - just want to bring a smile to the faces of other TN Bird lovers.

And encourage you to buy a flower box.

Penny

Hi Penny,
Great capture of this Woodpecker, lovely detail and colour, and there’s nothing better then having wild birds come into the garden for a feed, sorry to hear about the black thumb :( but I'm sure the wildlife appreciate it, all the best Cheers Rick :)

Hi Nelly, I love that shot, very seldom do we see wild birds clinging to our house ;-) I like the way you framed that picture, I noticed it right from the thumbnail. And this suet cake looks deliciouuuuuuuus! Nice composition once more with originality and a very nice moment captured. By the way, my house is the same colour as yours, with wooden windows! Thanks!

Francine
