...at the 1,000 Islands Nature Preserve, that is. I've left a corner of it in the bottom right to establish the vantage point. The wooden boardwalks and handrails spread throughout the preserve make the ravines and riversides of this wild and scenic spot accessible to a great breadth of nature lovers nearly all year round. Something beautiful is often just a step or two away.
The lighting was a little challenging here, so I metered for the average after trying it with both automatic and spot settings. The foreground tree is admittedly a little dark, but I wanted to show the wending Fox River clearly and also avoid too much overexposing of the background sky. |

wow...Well that tree has bought it...but I wonder...in a forest fire, pine cones pop open and release seeds and so when a big boy, not a pine, like this goes down...it releases many things underneath the ground into the light and the world...very interesting. Still looks a lot like my old woods back east. You bring good memories.

Hello Jim,
Just like a painting by one of the classic masters!
In particular the fallen tree in front adds a feeling of uniqueness, and the feeling of depth is wonderful...
A well balanced composition, and the stream reflects the sky so nicely!
Greetings,
