Flesh Fly - Genus Sarcophaga
December 3, 2007
Size: 6mm (1/4")
This fly is interesting. The night before I took this pic the temp got down to around 20F. I would have thought this would be enough to freeze it to death....apparently not. The other thing I thought was odd was I took this pic at night. There were no porch lights or anything where I found it. I'm not sure why it would have been roaming around at night. |

Hi Sam,
A quite good close-up picture with pretty good sharpness.
Richard did a very good WS with better lighting and sharpness.
You have a nice diagonal but you need a bit more space in the front of the fly, as it is now. it is a bit tight.
Well done.
A belated welcome to TN.

Hi Sam,
Welcome to TN.
I saw your forum post so decided to check out your work here on TN. This is a good detailed image of this fly. Good POV, plain gray BG but does contrast well. The lighting is a bit dark and sharpness could be enhansed. I did a work shop using Photo Shop Elements 4, lightening shadows 10%, added brightness +5, contrast +5, and sharpened with unsharp mask filter with settings: Amount 250%, Radius .3 pixels, and Threshold 0. It really brightened up nicely and sharpening helped IMHO. Richard
