Cedar Waxwing
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Cedar Waxwings are gregarious and nomadic birds, often appearing in large flocks out of nowhere as they find an attractive food source (mostly fruit) in a neighborhood. At an extraordinary speed they will have extinguished all there is and then disappear just as suddenly.
A flock of about 20 birds showed up in my neighborhood last week, attracted by the berries on the holly. There they raided the trees for two days and had moved on to another neighborhood. I have not seen them here very often and it was a lovely event to document!
Cedar Waxwings are very colorful - buff overall, with a black eye mask, bright yellow tip of the tail and bright red 'waxy' wing-tips (not visible here) that give the bird its name. Their call is a high pitched 'zzeeep' and birds in a flock are almost constantly calling to one another. |

Hello Kaustubh, a very photogenic bird. I like the way you composed the shot, and the leaves are nice and crisp around the bird w/ good dof, colours, nice light. It's great that you've captured a few berries as well on the holly.tfs Rgds Necip
Hi Kaustubh,
J'apprécie particulièrement la netteté du focus sur l'oiseau qui nous permet d'admirer le plumage.
Belle composition.C'est l'un des plus bel oiseau qui existe au canada selon mes goût.
Merci et au revoir...JP
