Black-chinned Hummingbird male (Archilochus alexandri).

This is more a novelty shot than anything else. I was experimenting with my Sigma macro lens trying to catch a hummingbird in flight from approximately four foot distance through my front window..It was under the eve of the house in shade so I used a high ISO, a fast shutter-speed and ring flash. I hope to get a more colorful shot with flower included later in the season. I have planted a crop of hummingbird friendly flowers in the hope of accomplishing this..I have seen many different species of hummingbirds at our feeders. The most striking was a ruby-throated hummer that I hope to capture later as I said.
Anyway, this is a little milestone in my humble photographic career, it being the first time I've managed a hummingbird and a bee in focus in the same frame.. Hope you like my Hummer with bee-in-tow!

Incredible. To capture both and in such good focus. I am Impressed. It might be a little dark but considering the circumstances this is understandable.

Great work

Hi Howard,

Excellent action shot. All good photographer needs luck to get the "special" one and this time it was your turn. Amazing to get them both in focus at the same time.

Congratulations.

Incredible shot! The blue background is not a bug for me. What is a "ring" flash?

Howard, what a capture. Excelent shot and well done on this composition. Looking forward to your hummers later.

Mike

I will give an eye tooth - And I have big ones, to shoot a pic like this - this is way tops, love it. I would love on of them ringflashes too. TFS

Great, unique capture Howard. Congratulations.

Howard, I didn't know what you meant until I went on a search. How funny that we both have this same theme going on in one of our posts.
I seem to be getting farther behind, faster.
Sorry for taking so long to spot this winner.
My favorite, the hummingbird, great shot!
Very funny also, thank you for sharing it with us.

Hi Howard,
That's amazing how you caught both the hummingbird and bee in flight together and with such clarity. Excellent! They contrast well with the blue background. Well done!
