[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I mentioned in my post notes a couple of days ago that we watched great egrets like this hunting small prey. On several occasions, just as they would nab their lunch, a hawk would appear out of nowhere and slam into the egret, grab the prey and be off leaving both the egret and ourselves stunned. I would love to have gotten a shot of that.

Hi Evelynn,

Great timing in capturing this action shot!
You froze the moment very nicely!
And like you say, maybe next time you'll have 3 species on your image!!!!

Lise

Hello Evelynn,
nice capture, good sjharpness and nice composition, great timing!

Great capture. You don't get opportunities like that very often. Well titled to. :) Detail, color and composition are all fine.

Be it for me to suggest that Ridgefield is actually on the Washington side of the river. LOL!!!

A great shot - good composition and POV with wonderful colour and detail. Well observed and captured.

James

I broke my 300 2.8 :( - it is now off for repair.

Hi Evelynn,
you have captured a great action of this beautiful bird. Exposure and sharpness are spot on, details in the white plumage are well seen.
Well composed and I like the natural light and colours.
Very good work.

Hello Evelynn,

I can imagine the action your are describing (grab the prey)to got a shot of that action. But don't forget you beautiful white egret. Great action shot. Nice colors with a lot of fine details. Good POV, DOF and BG. I hope the next time you will be lucky. Thanks for sharing. Have a nice day and TFS BOB

Hello Evelynn,
An interesting situation is so well captured!
Good details in the bird and the poor little mouse, and the scenery is presented in a well balanced composition...
And to see the hawk in action would indeed have been fantastic..!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Well done Evelynn.
Fine exposure showing the details in the white plumage well.
The heron with dinner is a bonus adding interest.
Nicely composed. Nice work once again. Tfs Richard

Hello Evelyn,
very nice shot of this egret and it's prey.
Good detail in the plumage and very sharp image.
Seeing that event with the hawk must have been quite something.
Sky

Hi Evelynn
Even if you didn't get the hawk this is a superb shot
Well seen and captured
Albert

hello Evelynn

in your notes i can imagine the action your are describing,
you are presenting us a very beautiful photo, excellent POV
at the level of the subject, i love that in the framing you kept a
good space in front of the egret (i love that you did'nt crop close),
great DOF, excellent density of the colours (i love it),
great contrast, excellent sharpness and details, TFS

Hello Evelynn
A good moment, at least for the Egret:)
And now we want to see the hawk:-)

Hi Evelynn
This is a nice capture of the egret catching the mouse. That is pretty cool to see but not cool for the poor guys that they are stealing from when the Hawks fly in and do that. I have seen that several times at the Ridgefield wildlife refuge. I am guessing that these recent posts are from the Ridgefield refuge? nicely done and TFS

This shot is not so shoddy itself.
Wow... I have never seen an egret catch a mammal, only fish.
Great moment captured.
