One of the sure signs of spring here in Ohio is the blooming of the Dogwood trees. It's easy to spot them this time of the year, even from afar. The white blossoms stick out like a sore thumb in woods that are just starting to come alive with undergrowth and green leaf buds on the trees.
Once the blossoms are gone, a small fruit appears which turns a deep red color. As the fall season draws near these tiny fruits are food to many kinds of birds and squirrels. |

Not sure if it was mom or dad, but both loved them. So much that they tried hard to grow one at home...and with them being so successful at gardening...I thought it was a shoe-in but alas they didn't seem to have much luck...so we went for long rides when these were in bloom...pink and white....I remember those trips so well because they ended at a dairy queen type of place,,,for me I think perhaps for dad too...but he hid his till we got home....Nice image and fond memory!

Hi Ron,
That's a beauty! Wish we had those here, they stop about halfway up the state, a few can be seen around Lake Michigan next door in Indiana.
Thanks,
John
