The Lamar Valley is one amazing place. And I was also very lucky. As I drove up the road I saw a few cars stopped to watch this young guy. But they were driving up from Cooke City and I was driving down toward it. So I drove on slowly tracking this guy for about 10 minutes. Great for photos, but I really appreciate the view the kids got watching this guy jump around and hunt varmints under the ground. Unfortunately I never saw him catch one. But it was entertaining and even sute to watch.
This is shot at 200mm, but I cropped to about half the frame. I tried harder on the exposure, Howard -- dark critters on white snow are tough. |

Great Mike...I hear from our friend Rick who is camped out there that snows are still pretty deep. It was a rough year. Very fine capture on a day when it is almost impossible to keep the contrast right..I use a D5-0 and have the same problems..not that my eye is bad or the settings...just something in Nikons older models I guess...but you have overcome it well!

Hi Mike,
And I thought Wylie E Coyote was a fictional character :-) Nice image of this Coyote going about his business, good clarity on the coat but unfortunately that's led to a few hot highlights but as you say in your note, it's almost an impossible situation.
Regards,
Adrian
