Waldo returns... and with style!
I cannot tell you how thrilled I was, when down at my neighborhood lake for my daily walk (my dog insists!), I spotted an old friend.
My first sign was his distinctive cry. Hearing his call, I scanned the lake... And there, amid all the mallards and Canada geese, there he was... in all his glory.
Sticking close to his mallard mate, he made sure that no other suitor came near. Get a glimpse of the happy couple here.
Smaller than all the other ducks, he somehow managed to pack a giant presence.
Here... judge for yourself!
You will understand why I fell in love with him!
Read about his story in the notes of my first post of him last spring. You will also find out about his name. : )
See other posts of him by myself and other fans. : ) |

Hoi Manyee,
It looks like a landing he made, but it is a great moment for you I think.Lovely pose and you can almost see the water move.
Greetings
Vivian
Very nice capture of wood duck posturing. At least I think it is a wood duck and think it is posturing. :)
I can't help but wonder what aperture and shutter speeds were so I could know if you might have been able to take it at a faster shutter speed and freeze the wings.
Newark has lot more going for it than I previously thought. ;) ;)

Beautiful Wood Duck photo Manyee,
I think these are one of the most beautiful ducks in the wild. You have captured him in a nice pose. Great job!! TFS
Ron
This is a good position Manyee.Sure is a good display of either dominance, or sometimes just to clean off what they have on them.
I also like the other one with the mallard. That was a nice pose for both.
It may be a friend, but not a mate, because the females have a yellow ring on eye, and definitely are a resemblance to the males.
Regards
Doug

Great timing! Color, composition, contrast, etc. are all just fine. Wish I could get one like this. Gary
