| On my first trip to Acadia National Park, and Maine in general, I often encountered small patches of Wild Lupine flowers. I really like purple and green colors together, and I kept snapping photos of the flowers, but I just wasn't pleased with the images. I still had a lot to learn about photography (still do, I suppose...always!) and I didn't realize that direct sunlight is not always a good thing when try to capture the colors of flowers and greenery. I captured this shot on my last day in the park, which was a very rainy one indeed. I was bummed that it was raining because I really hadn't captured many images that I was excited about yet, and now it was raining....what were my chances now? I drove around the park in search of subjects anyhow. I decided to hike down a short trail near Jordan Pond, in search of a stream that I could capture with the spring leaves surrounding it. At the head of the trail there was a patch of Wild Lupine. The flowers looked so much more vibrant when wet from the rain and with the diffused light of the overcast sky. This is when I learned how much moisture and overcast skies can help capture the colors of flowers and the green of lush vegetation in wooded scenes. I now look forward to days in the woods when it's lightly raining. :) |

About everybody at TrekNature that have come across my photos or my comments soon come to realise that I just love purple, I repeat
..I love purple and all the shades of purple and you flower posting of today is just stunning. I have added it to my theme "My purple obsession". Beautiful flower, with awesome detail and sharpness. A pretty floral composition with lovely colour of the flower. I like the combination of the unopened blossoms and then the opened flowers in all its glory. I thank you kindly for sharing.
