[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
We have a pair of wrens who took up residence in a small bird house that the kids got me for Christmas. I've been watching them as they fly in and out of the tiny house with insects of all kinds. They seem to really like Daddy Long Leggs and grubs.

Today I heard the parents fussing around one of our bushes, and found out that the babies were just starting to leave the nest. I took a shot of one of the parents and also one of the young birds.

It was pretty sunny out, but I still used the flash since the bird was skylighted. I figured I would only get a silhouette otherwise.

The House Wren is a very tiny bird ( 4 1/2 - 5 1/4 inches) that is known for making its nest in very unusual places. They have been found to nest in mailboxes, flowerpots, abandoned boots, and even in pockets of clothes on clotheslines.

They are welcomed by many people who try to attract birds to their property by putting out houses for them to nest in. They do have a bad habit of piercing the eggs of other birds.

Critiques [Translate]

Not sure why but my mothers CB handle was Jenny Wren. there may be a story behind it, but this wren looks like the wrens I knew/know...and came to their lake cottage. So young and so delicate yes? Very nice. You have made this ones day by putting it on TN. I wonder...what if it were an Angel? I always think like that...

Hello Ron,

A very sharp capture of this very delicate and beautiful little bird. Lovely details of his plummage and good eye-contact.

These wrens seem to have similar unusual nesting habits to robins in England.

A lovely House Wren posing beautifully for you. Superb colors and details of the face, wing and plummage. The eye is wonderful. I haven't seen one of these here - only his bigger and noisy cousin the Cactus Wren.

Nice capture of the house-wren.

Imagine they too are just like us...feeling a little lost as the children fly out...i like the details shown off the bird with good view of the plumage..the bird is captured with good clarity and fine focus.I guess it was a difficult one ..managing the skylighted bird and the flash to work well.And you have made a very good effort.
The slight burnt right corner worries me a bit, but that doesnt affect the beauty of the bird.

great shot of a very skitish bird. The use of flash was a good choice and the over-exposed right-up corner works to advantage, it emphasizes nicely the birds head. Did you plan that like that? If not - still pretend you did!
