I have seen these...and either I cannot remember the name I was given or I never got one...Nice colours tho for a native wildflower...and makes a trek worth the effort when they are in b loom..I'll check back to see if anyone ID's it.

Beautiful image Tom,
Your dark BG really make these little flowers stand out. Very sharp and detailed photo with wonderful colours and great exposure!
I tried to see what I could find in my guide books and Vipers Bugloss is as close as I could come.
The trouble with my guide book is that it's photos are not nearly as sharp as yours, so it's really hard to compare images.

Hi Tom
I'm pretty sure it's a type of Mimulus, commonly known as Monkey Flower but I'm unable to nail down the exact species. There is a M.lewisii which is similar, but the foliage on this one looks different to other pics I've seen online. Whatever it turns out to be, you've captured it well. Good detail and use of the flash.
Kind Regards
Vinny
Bonjour Tom,
Belle présentation très agréable à contempler par la précision de ses détails et la délicatesse de ses couleurs.
A bientôt sur TN pour de nouvelles aventures.

Hi Tom
I think this is a Penstemon serrulatus or Coast Penstemon. You've captured a nice close up showing the detail and how delicate the blooms are. The colour is great.
