Oxeye daisy

I take a walk at dawn when I first arise. In summer it is not yet hot, nor humid and makes for easier walking. also it is an early enough time that there are not too many folks outside walking, so I feel comfortable. I walk on the sidewalk and a part of the street where there is no sidewalk. In this area the street passes my large field of weeds. The Oxeye daisy is considered a pervasive weed. So in that sense, I see many folks passing them on a daily basis without noticing. If questioned, they would ask if there were truly flowers there or was I joking. the never see...They think and walk, unaware of what is around them.

I passed this Daisy on the walk this morning. It lay in the middle of the street. I suppose it could have been a bird, but more than likely a person plucking it and tossing it aside. Perhaps even without knowing or thinking. thinking and knowing is what the county does. And so in a couple more weeks they shall be by with their armored spray-mobile trucks...killing all green in the weed field and leaving rubbish which people had discarded. There it will wait until the snow covers it this winter. A strange procedure. Somehow it all seems wrong and backwards...or perhaps I am just an old eccentric who cares a bit more about what goes on around me....such is the natural way.

Hi Bob, very arty... good composition. I like the contrast betwixt petal and pavement... the framing is good, I like the central aspect of it... and that Leica does do a good job!! (the bloke holding the camera is not tooooo bad either!!! ) tfs regards h

That's the way they are, Bob,and much as I'd like to say something, I can't!
Artsy, yes, but this is reality!

Hello Bob,
I can now see why you had a job writing for the Sun years ago. You can find a story in almost anything, anywhere, and make it interesting to others.
Your right on the money about the way most people tend to think and act. I'm glad that there are some like you, who can still see beauty in a crumpled flower on the pavement.
Thanks for reminding us what true beauty really is!!
Ron

This looks surrealistic to me, Bob -- an Oxeye Daisy sprouting out of concrete!
In short, it is a work of art and combined with your musings in the note, it impels my mind and soul to "see" beyond the ponderables.
Thanks for sharing this really powerful image.

Hello Bob!

Very arty shot indeed. I like contrast between beautifull flower and concrete street.

Hello Bob,
Touching this little Daisy on the street..it was there waiting for your eye to catcht its presence..And you made also a paintinglike picture, something other than just a reproduction of reality. I like it a lot.
Best regards
Anne

Fascinating composition. Beautifully done. It's almost sad though. Funny that some people think the Oxeye is invasive and I try to grow them down here. ha ha

Hi Bob, poor dead daisy, fascinating composition with great details, good contrast and splendid sharpness, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hello Bob,
There have been times when I'd like to show the world all the dreadful things man does to spoil the natural environment. But it doesn't make me happy nor anyone else so I've chosen to focus on bunnies and bees instead!! I think this is a very feminine way to react!
Nevertheless this wilting Daisy is a very fine photograph showing sharp details and it is a nice contrast to the concrete its on.
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Hello Bob. Still looking graceful and beautiful here. Nice sharp detail of the fragile white petals. Well written note and good framing. Thanks for sharing and best regards. Jusni
