Juvenile Black Crowned Night Heron: Brown with white spots on the wings and broad, indistinct streaks on the underparts. Bill mostly yellow.
These birds stand still at the water's edge and wait to ambush prey, mainly at night or early morning. They primarily eat small fish, crustaceans, frogs, aquatic insects, and small mammals. During the day they rest in trees or bushes. The juvenile bird was spotted south of the IRA Trailhead in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

Beautiful bird Kris,
Did you find him here in Ohio or was this taken out of State? I've never seen one of these before and would love to get the chance to view one.
Love the colors of it's plumage and the bright yellow eye. You've captured him very well in his natural surroundings.
