The smallest and most common American woodpecker, the Downy Woodpecker is found throughout most of North America from Alaska to Florida. It lives in a variety of habitats from wilderness forests to urban backyards, and comes readily to bird feeders.

Hi Kris,
Are you sure this was taken in northeast Ohio, I see clear blue cloudless skies....just kidding. As you know this seems to be a rarity here.
Only wish he could have turned a bit so we could see his beautiful spotted patterns on his wings and back. I've tried to get a shot like this all year but it never seems to turn out right for me. TFS.
